“He’s Back” and “He’s Back”
Have you ever said to yourself, “I’ll be back” or “I shall return”?
”You are from God and have overcome…for greater is He who is in you, than he who is in the world.” – 1 John 4:4Have you ever found yourself caught with “both hands in the cookie jar?”
Gehazi, the servant of Elisha, found himself in this unpleasant situation. He stole money and possessions from Naaman for selfish gain, and was caught red handed. Elisha then pronounced swift judgment on Gehazi, reducing him to a life of pain, isolation, and hopelessness.
How many times in life do we find ourselves in Gehazi’s situation? We’ve blown it and are faced with hopelessness and private pain. Our future appears to be one of loneliness and heartache. It is during these times that hope is hard to find, and the thought of a comeback is too good to be true.”
Gehazi suddenly drops off the scene. And then suddenly, three chapters later, Gehazi is back! As quickly as he disappeared, he returned! And not only did he return, but in a greater state than before! The Bible tells us that Gehazi was now in the king’s court and had royal status! The king confided in Gehazi!
“How could this happen,” we might ask. “Wasn’t he banished to a life of incurable leprosy?” Yes, according to Levitical law and prophetic decree he was, but with God, “It ain’t over till it’s over!”
God loves to take the impossible and make it the possible. He loves to take individuals who have fallen, brush them off, clean them up, and restore them! He wants to do that with you and me.
I’m sure Gehazi said to himself, “I’ll be back.” And sure enough, he was! God is not finished with you. He wants to reach down and restore you “back”. It is His specialization, and He has been binding up the broken hearted for years!
