| Helen Jean Meyer, age 79, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, surrounded by her family at her home. Jean was born March 14, 1928, the fifth of 10 children, to Andrew A. and Emma L. (Johnson) Schoenecker in Eden Valley, Minn. She graduated from high school in 1945 and then moved to Minneapolis to work for Honeywell. On July 1, 1961, she married Gerald J. Meyer in Eden Valley, Minn. She and Gerald moved to Eau Claire to start a family. Jean loved to read, do crossword puzzles and spend time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Gerald; children, Stephen (Julie) Meyer, David (Jamie) Meyer and Kristi (David) Erickson, all of Eau Claire; grandchildren, TJ, Jordan, Daniel, Kayla, Megan and Emily; sisters, Rose Ann Lauer of St. Cloud, Minn., Betty (Erv) Frei of Burnsville, Minn., Lois (Corky) Polzin of Brownton, Minn., Theresa (Nibby) Spaeth of Aitkin, Minn., and Arlene LaHoud of Coon Rapids, Minn.; brother, Bob (Franny) Schoenecker of Richmond, Minn.; nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Kathleen Becker; and brothers, Jerome and David Schoenecker. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, with Father Brian Konopa officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Funeral Home, Golf Road, (one block east of Hwy. 93) and on Friday at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Olaf Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society. Evergreen Funeral Home is serving the family. |
