| The Lord isn't really being slow About His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, But wants everyone to repent. 2 PETER 3:9 When God seems silent, it may mean that He is patiently waiting for you to act----to turn away from a sinful habit, to follow a call that He made perfectly clear, or to just stop to listen to Him. If you are persisting a sinful habit, you will continue to move further away from God, which will make it much harder to hear Him. If God isn't answering you it may be time to change direction and move toward Him, not away. Sometimes, however, you make an honest request, and God doesn't seem to answer . It can be easy to interpret God's answers of "no" or "wait" as silence. But the fact that you make an honest request doesn't necessarily mean that what you are asking is good for you. Finally, God could be silent because He wants you to take a step of faith and trust Him. You may have several good options, and God will be pleased to go with you which ever option you choose. Sometimes He doesn't want to make His answer clear because that would be to easy, and your faith in Him would not grow. Although you may never understand why God seems silent at times, don't give up and leave Him, because He hasn't left you. Use the opportunity to draw closer to Him and continue to listen carefully for what He wants you to learn. |
