A New Beginning For Glenn “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) Glenn Leonard grew up in the inner-city neighborhood of Washington, D.C. He had a natural gift for singing. At age 13 he began singing for local events. A little recognition led to area, statewide and national performances. Eventually, his talent landed him a spot as a lead singer in the group, The Temptations. But even though he had achieved the success that he had dreamed of, Glenn noticed a void in the core of his being. He began looking for his next thrills in drugs, alcohol and women. He eventually quit The Temptations to begin a solo career. He threw a three-day bash of drugs and alcohol to celebrate his brand new solo release. On the last night of his binge, the oppression of his emptiness reached an all-time low. He kicked all his party friends out of his hotel room and turned on the TV to drown out his tormenting thoughts. As he flipped through the channels, he saw a certain preacher named R.W. Schambach shout, “You, sitting in that hotel room. God has His hand on your life, son! Jesus is the One you are looking for!” Then Glen Leonard's miracle took place. To him, it felt as though someone else was in the room with him. He had a supernatural encounter – the presence of Almighty God filled his room. In an instant, he was sober. He drove home to his wife and children. He sought out a friend who had become a Christian. That friend led him to Jesus and within 15 minutes, Glenn was filled with the Holy Ghost. His wife had been on the verge of leaving him. But God put his family back together, too. Now he is leading others to their new lives in Christ! | |
